Terms of Use

1. Who We Are

The Teachinator is provided by TeachSmarts. You can contact us at andrew@teachsmarts.com.

2. Acceptance

By signing in, syncing Google Classroom, creating classroom tools, posting homework, sending session reports, or otherwise using The Teachinator, you agree to these Terms. If you use the app for a school or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to use the service for that organisation and to provide any classroom or student information submitted through the app.

3. Educational Use

The Teachinator helps teachers run classroom routines, organise lessons, record session signals, and create Google Classroom or Google Sheet outputs. You remain responsible for reviewing all content, reports, classroom posts, point records, summaries, and student information before relying on them or sharing them. The Teachinator does not replace teacher judgement, school policy, legal advice, or professional advice.

4. Google Access

When you authorise Google access, The Teachinator uses that access only to perform the actions you request. The app currently requests Google Classroom read-only scopes for courses, rosters, coursework, announcements, and topics; Google Sheets access for report creation; Gmail send access for session reports; and Google Drive read-only access where needed for export-related features. You are responsible for using Google services only in ways permitted by Google, your school, and applicable policies.

5. Data and Permissions

You are responsible for ensuring your school has provided any required notices, permissions, consents, or lawful bases for collecting and using student information. Do not enter sensitive information unless it is necessary for your teaching purpose and permitted by your school.

6. Browser and Device Features

The app uses browser storage for session state and teacher/class preferences. Some features also use local device capabilities, such as microphone access for the Noise Meter and local audio playback for Soundscape, classroom sound effects, and the classroom game. When you activate the Noise Meter or the classroom game for students, these same device features (microphone access, live gameplay controls, and audio playback) are used on student devices, not just the teacher's device. Do not use features you do not want to enable.

7. Student Access

Some features let students join a class-specific student portal directly on their own device, using a class code or link and their own email/password sign-in. Through the student portal, students can view teacher-published class information, respond to questions, quizzes, polls, buzzer activities, exit tickets, and "checking understanding" comprehension check-ins, submit requests such as extension work requests, participate in the classroom game (viewed on the teacher's screen, controlled from their own device), use a teacher-activated Noise Meter, and submit suggestions (for example, about classroom noise) that may name other students. Teachers remain responsible for reviewing student-submitted content and suggestions before acting on them, and for ensuring student use of the portal complies with school policy and any required parental or guardian consent.

8. Acceptable Use

You must not use The Teachinator to break the law, harm students, harass others, misuse Google services, attempt to bypass security, scrape or attack the service, upload malicious code, or submit content you do not have the right to use. Do not upload files or other content unless a feature explicitly asks you to do so.

9. Availability and Changes

The Teachinator is provided as a practical classroom tool and may change over time. Features may be updated, interrupted, or removed. We aim to keep the app useful and reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or error-free.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Teachinator is provided on an "as is" basis. TeachSmarts is not responsible for decisions made from app outputs, school policy breaches, Google service outages, data entered incorrectly, or content shared by users.
